Skysports.com understands that Blackpool have contacted Portsmouth about a possible move for David Nugent.

Nugent has been heavily linked with a move away from Fratton Park despite Steve Cotterill expressing his determination to keep the striker.

The 25-year-old has struggled to make a significant impact since joining Pompey from Preston in 2007 and was loaned out to Burnley last season.

A move back to the Premier League could now be on the cards after Blackpool made an enquiry over Nugent's availability.

Ian Holloway has been busy in the transfer market in recent weeks and is still actively looking for players with less than 24 hours remaining until the window shuts.

However, Blackpool will face a fight to prise Nugent away from Portsmouth as Cotterill's men are currently bottom of the Championship and so short of players that they will not want to lose any of their key men.
