Blackpool boss Ian Holloway singled out Barry Ferguson for praise after the 2-0 victory over Ipswich.

Ferguson inspired Blackpool to the three points at Bloomfield Road, chipping in with the second goal after Gary Taylor-Fletcher had put the hosts ahead

The win leaves Blackpool just outside the play-off places in seventh place on goal difference but Ipswich are now languishing in 17th spot having won just once since the opening day of the season.

And Holloway believes his side are still producing the brand of attacking, eye-catching football that won them so many plaudits in the Premier League last season.

Shock

"It was a tough first half, we weren't sure how they were going to line up and we had a bit of a shock with the formation that they chose," noted Holloway.

"My team didn't expect them to play that way and people who thought they'd have time on the ball didn't and it wasn't until half-time that we could correct that.

"We looked a lot better second half and we give them a lot of credit, it's a very tough division and it's good for us to be able to score two nice goals against an organised side.

"The second goal pleased me more than anything and in the end our football came through and we scored two very nice goals.

"It's good to see some other players scoring goals and I was pleased to see Fergie score today - he was more like his usual self, flying into tackles and spraying passes."

Formula

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell admitted he was still scratching around for the winning formula.

"We had three chances that we could've scored but we didn't make the keeper work, we had one where Jimmy Bullard went through and we had five against three and Daryl (Murphy) had two opportunities," said Jewell.

"If one of those had gone in then it might have been different but we look in the mirror once we go a goal behind and at the moment it looks like it's going to be difficult for us to get back in the game.

"Up until the goal there was nothing in it but at the moment we're a team that doesn't know the right formula and we have a bit of imbalance - but we're searching for that formula.

"We don't know our best team at the moment, Danny Collins has come in and done terrifically well but we've obviously got a bit of a confidence problem at the minute."
