The tie looked set to go to penalties until Davies popped up with the winner in the final minute.
Kevin McLeod's second half goal booked Brighton's place in the second after a 1-0 win at Northampton.
Millwall crashed out to Colchester at The Den after David Perkins's early goal after just eight minutes gave the visitors a 1-0 win.
