Terry Skiverton says Yeovil were right not to offer Sheffield Wednesday a controversial goal in their 3-2 defeat to the Owls.

A dubious first-half strike from Kieran Agard put Wednesday on the back foot at Huish Park on Saturday after new boy David McGoldrick had given them a 10th-minute lead. The incident was sparked when the official dropped the ball in the Yeovil penalty area and expected Luke Ayling to punt it back to the Owls' defenders.

His kick was not strong enough and goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell and his skipper Rob Jones collided as they went to sort it out. It gave Agard the chance to nip in and fire into an empty net. Agard scored again before Julian Bennett and Gary Madine sealed the win in League One.

Skiverton admitted: "It was not a satisfactory goal but in the end we let the referee make the decision. I might have been more inclined to give them a goal back but their number six (Jose Semedo) was effing and blinding me to such an extent that I didn't feel like trying to help them out."

Skiverton praised striker Madine and believes the Owls are a force to be reckoned with this season.

He added: "You've got to give Sheffield credit. Madine is top scorer in the league and worth a lot of money. So is McGoldrick. They get paid big bucks to get the goals and they are up there with the top strikers."
