Fabio Borini's agent has confirmed that Swansea City missed out on re-signing the striker.

The Italian Under 21 international played a leading role in helping Swansea win promotion to the Premier League whilst on-loan from Chelsea last term.

However, at the end of the season he sealed a move to Parma - but now before even kicking a ball for his new club, he has moved on again.

This time he has signed for Roma on a year's loan which will become an £8million move next summer.

And Swansea did make another try for Borini, but he was already on his way to Roma.

"Swansea did make contact and Brendan Rodgers called me to ask me the situation with Fabio, but I had to tell him we were already with Roma and the deal was done," his agent Marco de Marchi said.

"I felt very sad because Brendan did a lot for Fabio, but we have to look forward and we will wish Swansea City a very good season in the Premier League."
