Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers is looking forward to returning to his old club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The 38-year-old worked as manager of both the youth and reserve teams at the Blues between 2004 and 2008 after being poached from Reading by Jose Mourinho.

And the Northern Irishman will take a closer look at the current set up when Chelsea take on Fulham at Stamford Bridge in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

"They're one of the leading clubs in European football now," he told Sky Sports News.

"I was fortunate enough to work there for four-and-a-half years in one of the most successful periods in their history and [they're] a terrific club with great supporters and I really look forward to going back at the weekend.

"It's a fantastic club and I'm on my way up there tonight to watch their cup game."

The Swans registered their first win in the Premier League with a 3-0 defeat of West Brom last weekend, and Rodgers insists they will not feel "inferior" when taking on the mighty Blues on Saturday.

He added: "Our confidence level is very high and that's important because of how we play. We understand we're coming up against some world-class players on Saturday.

"But we won't feel inferior. We always respect every opponent that we play but every game in the Premier League is a tough game and you have to really earn every single point.

"And Chelsea away, like the other two away games we've had - Manchester City and Arsenal - it's going to be an equally tough game.

"In every game you have to have tactical discipline in your game but our game is very much based on possession and creativity.

"But, also, it's about keeping clean sheets and in our first five games we've kept three clean sheets so we'll aim to replicate that on Saturday."
