Carlisle manager Greg Abbott felt his side had been harshly done by after they crashed to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Hartlepool.

First-half strikes from Gary Liddle and Adam Boyd put Pools in control before a Rory Loy penalty gave hope to Carlisle, only for them to miss a number of chances to equalise.

Abbott admitted: "Goals are what it's all about.

"We lost count of the number of crosses we put in and the chances we created only to concede two awful goals.

"I feel sorry for the players because they tried to do the right things. It was not to be for some reason."
