Doncaster to release Budtz

Doncaster will allow goalkeeper Jan Budtz to leave in the summer, but James Coppinger and Graeme Lee look set to stay.

Budtz has spent most of 2007 on loan at Championship side Wolves, but was recalled by manager Sean O'Driscoll (pictured) following an injury to Ben Smith and the expiry of Neil Sullivan's loan from Leeds.

Yet Budtz is out of contract next month and, with O'Driscoll eyeing a permanent deal for Sullivan when his Leeds contract expires, Budtz will no longer be needed at the Keepmoat Stadium.

"Jan's time at Wolves will have been a good experience and should stand him in good stead when he's trying to get a fresh start somewhere else," O'Driscoll told the Yorkshire Post.

However, O'Driscoll claims striker Coppinger and defender Lee will remain with the club unless they receive an offer the chairman deems 'absolutely too good'.

Coppinger is believed to be a target for Nottingham Forest, while Lee has been linked with a move to former club Hartlepool.

And while O'Driscoll says he will talk to the duo if anyone makes a bid, he does not expect to have to sell.

"If somebody comes in, I will speak to the players, but I think we have got a chairman who would discourage any bids unless they were absolutely too good."
