Preston North End are chasing Doncaster Rovers midfielder Martin Woods, skysports.com understands.
New Preston boss Darren Ferguson is keen to bring in some new faces and Woods is thought to be among his top targets.
Woods has established himself as one of the best young players in the Championship over the last few seasons at Doncaster and a number of clubs are thought to be keeping tabs on him.
The 24-year-old has a year-and-a-half on his existing Rovers deal and would command a fee should someone wish to purchase his services before the summer of 2011.
Doncaster are reluctant to lose Woods, but Preston could test their resolve to hang onto the former Leeds youngster with a firm offer before the transfer window closes.
