Millwall have praised supporters after their weekend Championship fixture with London rivals West Ham passed without incident.

The two clubs have a history of matchday violence leading to a heavy police presence around The Den for the noon kick-off.

The last time the teams met two years ago in the Carling Cup at Upton Park the contest was marred by crowd trouble.

However, there was no repeat this time around and chief executive Andy Ambler was delighted the match passed without incident.

Eyes

"It is true that the eyes of the football world were very much on us," Ambler told the club's official website.

"There was a huge media presence expecting to report on and photograph unsavoury behaviour off the field, but thanks to the common sense of all concerned they had to content themselves with focusing on the match, which is what we all hoped for.

"Once again, thanks to all our supporters for helping ensure the reputation of Millwall was enhanced over the weekend."
