Lowe lands Crewe extension

Crewe Alexandra striker Ryan Lowe has signed a new two-year contract at Gresty Road.

Lowe joined Crewe last summer after an impressive trial and has scored 12 goals for Dario Gradi's side this term.

The 28-year-old's contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but he is delighted to have pledged his future to Crewe.

"When I left Chester I was taking a bit of a chance but Dario and Crewe were prepared to give me a chance and I think I've repaid the faith they have shown by the way I've performed this season," Lowe said.

"It's always nice to get something sorted out before the end of the season because I don't think anyone likes going into the summer without having something sorted out.

"If we can start better and become more consistent, there's no reason why we can't be going for promotion next season."

Lowe follows youngsters Shaun Miller and Tom Pope in signing two-year extensions, and may not be the last.

Gradi is still to decide on three players' futures, but assistant manager Neil Baker expects final decisions to come soon.

"We have spoken to most of them now and I think there are only three that are out of contract that we haven't spoken to," Baker said.

"We're still deliberating and they're players that may get a chance in the last four games.

"There are a few factors to consider, like budgets and other people's progress but we're close to making decisions because obviously it's best for the player to find out as soon as possible."
