Crewe boss Dario Gradi has revealed he is still in the hunt for new additions to his squad and has the budget to aid him.
Alex have started the season with two defeats and Gradi is aware defensive acquisitions are his priority.
"We have in the budget room for two defenders and then we will see if we have anything left for a big striker," said Gradi.
Gradi also said he was wary of bringing in loan signings, preferring to stick to permanent transfers if possible.
"I would prefer to bring in players on a permanent basis but we have looked at the loan market and it is something we will look to pursue.
"Managers know that we play football and there are people willing to lend us players. I want someone to add to us and give us the cover we need."
