Crewe boss Dario Gradi wants more from his squad despite securing the first points of the season with a 1-0 win at Plymouth.

The Railwaymen claimed their first league win this season with a 1-0 victory after striker Shaun Miller lashed home a 42nd-minute winner. Miller was well placed on the left-hand side of the six-yard box to convert Ajay Leitch-Smith's cross from the right.

Gradi said: "They combined really well for the goal but, otherwise, their play could improve.

"You live or die by the quality of your front players. They have got the ability and just need to produce that quality a bit more often. We worked really hard for that. The boys have worked hard in all of the games and been a little bit unlucky.

"But we have worked hard on how we have conceded goals and really had a go at blocking the crosses - and the crosses that came in were long ones and we did quite well with blocking them.

"There were obviously positives from it but we are a long way from what we want to be doing - we have still got a bit of work to do."
