Disappointed Port Vale boss Micky Adams shouldered some of the blame as his side lost 3-2 against Shrewsbury.

A double from Ben Williamson was not sufficient to take anything from a thrilling game as the hosts were leapfrogged by the Shrews.

Adams said: "I picked the wrong team. There were frailties when we beat Bradford on Tuesday and I should have made changes in personnel.

"Hindsight is a great thing, but the game has gone now. We didn't play well and it is as simple as that. We were 2-0 down before we got going and Shrewsbury were the better team on the day.

"We started the game very poorly and we looked like a team of individuals who were doing things their way. We made all the wrong decisions instead of doing the things we are good at.

"Scoring goals hasn't been a problem for us this season, but I can't work out why we are conceding so many. We've got more or less the same players back there, although Lee Collins is out injured."
