Huddersfield Town manager Peter Jackson has released goalkeeper Phil Senior.
Senior's current deal at The Galpharm Stadium expired at the end of the season and Jackson has decided to search for a more experienced goalkeeper to challenge Paul Rachubka for the number one shirt.
The 23-year-old made his first-team debut last season and was also involved in The Terriers' FA Cup run, including their third round tie against Chelsea.
Jackson admits the decision to axe Senior was a tough one, but believes the player will benefit from more first-team action.
"It was an incredibly difficult decision to make," Jackson told the club's official website.
"Phil's contract was up at the end of the season and, although he has never let me down when he has been called upon, I feel I need a keeper with more experience to put the pressure on Paul Rachubka.
"He is 23 years old and needs first team experience and regular football and I cannot guarantee him that.
"I really feel for him because he is a great kid and is great around the dressing room.
"It is one of the toughest decisions I have had to make as a manager. I hope he will get fixed up elsewhere because he deserves it."
Along with Senior, also departing the club this summer will be midfielder Tony Carss and striker Junior Mendes, while David Graham will return to Sheffield Wednesday following his loan spell.
"It might have been a different story had we been promoted but Graham wants to go back to Wednesday," said Jacko.
"He has two years left on his contract and feels he wants to stay there and work his way into Paul Sturrock's plans."
Meanwhile, youngsters Aaron Hardy, Matthew Young and John McCombe have all been given new one-year contracts.
