Huddersfield manager Lee Clark expects Peter Clarke and Damien Johnson to be fit enough to face Tranmere at the weekend.

Captain Clarke has missed the Terriers' last three games with a back niggle while Johnson is slowly returning to fitness from knee surgery which has kept him out since December.

Johnson made the squad for the first time when Huddersfield drew with Oldham and Clark hopes he will be fit enough to appear from the start soon.

"It was great to have Damien back, and he's very close to being able to start a game," Clark told The Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

"Both he and Pete have been training well, and hopefully they will continue that way over the next couple of days.

"We're optimistic this period of treatment and rest will have done the trick for Peter, who has an excellent record in terms of availability since joining us."
