Skysports.com understands that Barnsley are set to complete the signing of Brighton defender Jim McNulty.

The former Stockport man is currently undergoing a medical at Oakwell and is expected to sign on Thursday.

McNulty joined Brighton from Stocktport in February 2009, but he made just 10 league starts - mainly due to injury.

The 26-year-old is now set to continue his career in South Yorkshire at Barnsley once he has successfully passed his medical.

McNulty also spent time on loan at Scunthorpe last season and he is now due to become new manager Keith Hill's first signing.
