Vicente is aiming to help Brighton & Hove Albion reach the Premier League after fulfilling his ambition of moving to England.
Brighton have pulled off a transfer coup by signing the Spanish winger on a one-year contract following his departure from Valencia earlier in the summer.
Several leading clubs in the English top flight and across Europe were keen on Vicente, but he has been persuaded to join Championship high flyers Brighton.
He acknowledged Seagulls boss Gus Poyet was a big factor in his decision to sign and he now wants to play a role in securing promotion on the South Coast.
"Playing in England is something I've wanted to do. I've achieved a lot, but for many years I've watched the Premier League and followed English football. It's very important that Brighton has given me that chance to start playing again."
