Orient boss Russell Slade never saw so many good spot-kicks in their 14-13 shoot-out loss to Dagenham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Sam Williams had put the visitors in front on 64 minutes but the O's levelled two minutes from time through David Mooney to set up the penalty shoot-out thriller.

All 11 players including the two keepers netted their spot-kicks and when the next round of penalties started, the first five were all converted before Daggers keeper James Shea saved Ben Chorley's effort.

"It didn't look like a save was going to be made," he said. "It's our number one penalty taker that's actually missed the opportunity and probably the one that you would put your money on to score to be honest. That probably sums up the start to our season really, there's not too much going right at the moment.

"I thought that we created chances during the 90 minutes although we were patchy at times but there were enough opportunities to settle it although there are never too many chances when we play Dagenham. There was the wonderful chance though for Jonathan Tehoue with the header from 4 or 5 yards, I thought there was a wonderful opportunity for Jimy Smith to score and so I thought that we created enough opportunities to at least get a couple of goals tonight.

"But it wasn't to be and then Dagenham got the goal and we had to keep fighting. To be fair to the lads, we battled well and got a late equaliser to send it into the shoot-out. We've also suffered injuries to three of our players including Tehoue who has possibly broken a bone in his arm. The loan market has not come soon enough for us and I'm sure we'll be doing some business in the next couple of days."
