Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury admitted his side were below-par as Charlton eased to a 3-0 opening day victory.
Goals from Dale Stephens and Scott Wagstaff and a Johnnie Jackson penalty eased the Addicks to victory.
Bradbury told BBC Radio Solent: "We weren't fully at it. At the end of the day, we've got to perform.
"It's a big blow. The lads were feeling confident and are now down. We'll learn from it, but we can't really ponder on it too much.
"It was a frustrating day, if the penalty had been given for us, it would have been a different game."
