Sheffield Wednesday will travel to Bradford in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round, while Exeter host Plymouth in a Devon derby.
Wednesday's Steel City rivals Sheffield United have also been handed an away tie, at former Blade Paul Peschisolido's Burton Albion.
