Burnley manager Eddie Howe has backed the club's potential new signing, Danny Ings, to be a rising star for the team.

Howe has raided former club Bournemouth for the services of Ings, who developed under the Clarets boss when he was in charge during his successful stint with the Cherries.

A deal has been agreed for the 19-year-old, who has scored seven goals in 26 league appearances for Bournemouth since being given his first-team bow by Howe last year.

Howe, speaking after the club's 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday, was confident that the player could have an impact on the Championship stage, and felt his potential would allow him to become a big success.

"We have agreed a fee for Danny and hopefully more things will fall into place this week," Howe told the club's official website.

Talented

"Personal terms need to be agreed with Danny yet, but he is a talented young player. He is still very young - only 19 - and he broke in the team last year while I was manager.

"Everyone there (at Bournemouth) has felt for a long time he is potentially one of the best players to come through in recent times, and that says a lot given the quality that has come through at Bournemouth."

Howe is expected to bring in several players to bolster his squad after a disappointing start to the campaign and he felt that beating other clubs for the signature of Ings was a sign of things to come.

"I know Premier League clubs wanted to sign him and if we do eventually get him he will be a good signing," Howe added.

"The possibilities are endless for him because he is still learning the game. He needs to develop physically and in all areas of his game, but he has the raw ingredients to play top level.

"He has a really bright future in the game and I think he will do well for us."
