Bournemouth manager Lee Bradbury has identified Bury striker Ryan Lowe as a new transfer target.
The Cherries missed out on both Adam Le Fondre and Charlie MacDonald, but Bradbury's drawn-out search for a striker could come to an end if they land the 32-year-old marksman, who has already scored seven goals this season for the Shakers.
Bradbury told the Daily Echo: "I like Ryan and he scores goals. He has got a tremendous record and we would definitely be interested. He is a natural goalscorer and a fox-in-the-box type that I think we need.
"I want to bring in someone permanently. I want someone signed, sealed and committed to the club and ready to go. I don't want us to leave it to a loan if I can help it. Time will tell over the next few hours whether it will come to fruition.
"It is a position we need to fill and we need someone who is going to score us 20-plus goals a season.
"We have made enough chances in the past few games and, if we had taken them, it may have been a different story."
