Bradford boss Phil Parkinson was full of praise after his first league game in charge ended with a 1-1 draw at Morecambe.

The Shrimps' hopes of going clear at the top of League Two were dashed by a last-gasp strike from the Bantams' Ross Hannah, who scored three minutes into injury time to rob new Morecambe boss Jim Bentley of a fifth successive win. Izak Reid had given the hosts a 56th-minute lead.

Parkinson said: "It was a close game played in difficult conditions and I thought over the course of the game a draw was the least we deserved. Some of the football we played was good and there were plenty of positives to take from the game.

"We had a game in midweek and Morecambe didn't but the lads showed their fitness and our three substitutions made a real difference.

"I was really pleased for the fans because they were superb. It was a like a home game at times because of the noise they made and they really got behind us and it was a real boost to get a point in that fashion."

Speaking about the first week in charge of his new club, he said: "There is a lot of hard work to do and we will put everything in to make the improvements we need. We will look to do things step by step but we will make the changes we need to to get to where we want to be."
