Morecambe hit previous leaders Crawley for six to go top of League Two on goal difference, while rock bottom Plymouth are still searching for their first win.

Danny Carlton scored a hat-trick as Morecambe beat Crawley 6-0 go top, while the Red Devils slipped to fourth with the heavy defeat.

Lewis Grabban grabbed a brace as Rotherham beat Dagenham & Redbridge 3-1 to remain second, level on points with the Shrimps.

Shrewsbury made it four wins in a row with a 3-1 win over Hereford in the early kick-off to rise to third in the table, with Marvin Morgan notching a brace for the Shrews, who also had Terry Gornell sent off for serious foul play.

Jeff Goulding scored from the penalty spot and James Spencer added a late second as Cheltenham beat Macclesfield to go fifth.

Torquay dropped to sixth after being held to a goalless stalemate at Northampton, who have now not won in five attempts.

Both teams finished with ten men as rock-bottom Plymouth slipped to a 2-0 home defeat to Port Vale, with Gary Roberts scoring a brace for the Valiants, who rose to seventh with the win.

Late penalty

Luke Rooney scored a late penalty as eighth-placed Gillingham salvaged a point against Accrington, while Danny Hylton also scored a last-gasp equaliser as Aldershot earned a point against ten-man AFC Wimbledon, who had Ricky Wellard sent off after Max Porter had notched the opener.

Justin Richards scored a brace as tenth-placed Burton came from two goals down to claim a point at Oxford, who had earlier scored via Alfie Potter and Peter Leven.

Adam Dugdale was among the scorers as Crewe made it three wins on the bounce with a 3-1 success over strugglers Barnet, while substitute Jonathan Smith and Mehdi Kerrouche were on target as Swindon beat Southend 2-0 to register their third home league win of the campaign.

Michael Flynn scored a brace as Bradford twice came from behind to earn a point against Bristol Rovers at Valley Parade.
