Rotherham United's veteran defender Paul Hurst has set his sights on becoming the club's record appearance holder, after signing a new two-year deal at the club.

The 31-year-old defender joined Millmoor as a schoolboy, and has made 410 appearances for the club.

He is just 49 games behind current record-holder Danny Williams, and having featured in 31 matches in League One last term, will be hoping to make his mark on the club's history at some point over the next two seasons.

"I am aware of the fact that I could become the player with the most appearances for the club and that would be something I would be very proud to achieve," he told the club's website.

"I am looking at the 500 mark if possible and a two-year contract will give me a chance to do that."

Meanwhile, Ian Sharps (pictured) looks set to become the second Tranmere Rovers player to join The Millers this summer. 

Reports suggest that the out-of-contract defender will follow striker Delroy Facey away from Prenton Park, and sign a two-year deal with The Millers.
