Rotherham United have signed striker Drewe Broughton on an initial one-month contract.

Broughton was a free agent after leaving Milton Keynes Dons at the end of last term and trained with Rotherham in pre-season.

He has now been given a short-term deal with the Millers and is looking to make the most of his opportunity.

"I am pleased to just get the option to play again," Broughton told the club's official website.

"I said to the gaffer that this is the first time in 12 years that I am sat around without a club for the start of the season, so it is great to get this opportunity."

Good foil

Broughton was an unused substitute in Saturday's win over Morecambe and Rotherham boss Mark Robins is happy to give the 29-year-old a chance.

Robins said: "We have signed Drewe initially for a month and we will see how things go.

"Drewe will offer us something different that we have not already got and he could provide a good foil for any of our current strikers."
