Jonathan Douglas is attempting to claim Brentford's opening goal in their 2-1 victory at Exeter after the ball was deflected.

The midfielder lashed a free-kick goalwards only to see the ball take a wicked deflection off James Dunne which left goalkeeper Artur Krysiak stranded.

It was credited as an own goal by the Grecians' number four, yet Douglas told Brentford's official website: "There was a massive deflection but I think it was going into the other corner so I'll be claiming that.

"If you don't shoot, you don't score. The deflection was a bit of luck when we needed it."
