Hereford have signed goalkeeper Ryan Esson until the end of the season.

Esson has been a free agent after being released by Shrewsbury in January.

He will act as back-up to Wayne Brown after second-choice keeper Mike Ingham suffered a hand injury which will keep him sidelined for at least six weeks.

Esson spent 10 years at his hometown club Aberdeen before switching to the Shrews in summer 2006, but made only two appearances this season and had his contract cancelled in the transfer window.

Brown's hold on the No.1 jersey looks safe, with clean sheets in his last three matches as Graham Turner's men chase an automatic promotion spot.
