Mackail-Smith: Delighted with deal

Craig Mackail-Smith has expressed his delight after signing a new long-term contract at Peterborough United.

The striker has pledged his future to the League Two club until 2012 after scoring 18 goals in all competitions this season.

He has impressed for Posh since joining the club in January last year from Dagenham & Redbridge and is enjoying his stint at London Road.

"I am having a great time at Peterborough United and I am really pleased to be able to commit my future for four-and-a-half years," Mackail-Smith told the club's official website.

"Everyone is enjoying their football at the moment and the club has big ambitions that I want to be a part of. I believe I can realise my ambitions with Posh."

Excited

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson offered his gratitude to chairman Darragh MacAnthony for securing the future of a key player.

Ferguson said: "I am delighted that Craig has agreed a new four-and-a-half year contract. The chairman Darragh MacAnthony has backed me once again and it is important that we secure all of our best players on longer contracts.

"It is great news for the club and I am sure the supporters will be excited by the announcement."
