Smith: Left Darlington
Veteran striker Martin Smith has left Darlington after it was confirmed he would not play again this season.
Smith has not featured for the Quakers since the end of January and will miss the rest of the campaign with a knee injury.
The League Two club have now come to an agreement to cancel the remaining months of the 33-year-old's deal.
The former Sunderland attacker had made just five appearances for Darlington this season and has been on the books since 2006.
Meanwhile, Ritchie Foran is close to a first-team comeback after figuring for the reserves earlier in the week.
Foran has been out since late January with a hamstring injury, but the striker could be involved in Saturday's game at Chester City.
