Penney: Promotion push

Darlington and Hereford are both in action on Saturday as they bid to reinforce their credentials in the battle for the final automatic promotion spot in League Two.

Hereford welcome Bury to Edgar Street, while Darlington manager Dave Penney takes his side to struggling Chester.

Milton Keynes Dons and Peterborough appear to be battling it out for first and second place to leave the Quakers and the Bulls hoping to clinch the last remaining spot in the quest for an automatic promotion place.

The race for the play-offs gathers pace at Christie Park as ninth-placed Morecambe hope to close the gap on Wycombe in sixth, while Chesterfield take on Accrington.

Elsewhere, bottom club Wrexham hope to continue their plans for a Great Escape as they travel to Brentford, while relegation rivals Mansfield host Grimsby.

Notts County are also far from safe, but they face a difficult task as they look to hold on to their Football League status when play-off hopefuls Rochdale visit Meadow Lane.

Dagenham & Redbridge are looking nervously over their shoulder at the foot of the table and will be eager for three home points against Shrewsbury, while fellow strugglers Barnet await the arrival of Lincoln at Underhill.

Meanwhile, Rotherham - who recently announced they had gone into administration for the second time in their history - will hope to end a miserable week on a high note when Yorkshire foes Bradford make the trip to Millmoor.
