Whelpdale: Scored equaliser

Paul Ince's MK Dons stayed at the top of League Two on goal difference following an entertaining 1-1 draw with second placed Peterborough at Stadium MK.

Aaron Wilbraham gave the league leaders a deserved advantage on 12 minutes when he struck his sixth goal of the season.

But Darren Ferguson's men - who were unbeaten in 13 games coming into the clash - refused to lie down and equalised on 27 minutes through Chris Whelpdale.

The 21-year-old, who was back in the team in place of Josh Low, scored with a diving header to give the visitors a share of the spoils.

In the other League Two clash, promotion-chasing Stockport made it six wins in a row with a 2-0 victory over lowly Macclesfield in this Cheshire derby.

Jason Taylor scored in the 10th and 46th minutes to cement County's position in fifth place, and leave Macclesfield in deep trouble, fourth from bottom.

MK Dons 1 Peterborough 1

The league's top two shared the spoils an entertaining 1-1 draw in front of a record league crowd at Stadium MK.

The home side took a deserved lead through Wilbraham on 12 minutes, winning three corners before the goal finally came. Jemal Johnson got in a great cross which was back heeled into the path of Wilbraham who fired past Joe Lewis.

But Peterborough replied on 27 minutes to peg the league leaders back. The goal came after a cross from Dean Keates went right over the Dons' defence and Whelpdale was on the back post, scoring with a diving header across keeper Willy Gueret.

In an end-to-end second-half, both teams wasted golden chances to win the game. Peterborough substitute Scott Rendell put a header just wide, while Wilbraham shot wide for the Dons.

Stockport 2 Macclesfield 0

A Taylor brace saw Stockport beat lowly Macclesfield in this Good Friday local derby.

After dominating the opening exchanges, the goal came on 10 minutes after an Anthony Pilkinton corner was only partially cleared by the Macclesfield defence. When the ball came back into the six yard box, Taylor was there to stab it beyond keeper Jonathon Brain.

He then doubled Stockport's lead 30 seconds after the interval when Liam Dickinson's shot was spilled by the keeper. The ball came out about 12 yards and he rammed the ball home after making a surging run from midfield.

Macclesfield might have pulled one back after the ball appeared to strike defender Michael Rose's arm but the penalty decision was not given.
