Llewellyn: On target for Wrexham
Stockport secured fourth place on the final day of the League Two season as Rochdale were held by Shrewsbury.
With all the major issues resolved, the intrigue rested with the four teams certain to contest the play-offs as they jostled for position.
Stockport moved above Rochdale with a 1-0 victory over Brentford, while Darlington stayed ahead of seventh-placed Wycombe by seeing off Peterborough at London Road.
Bottom club Wrexham bowed out of the Football League with a 3-2 win against Lincoln, while also-relegated Mansfield lost to Dagenham & Redbridge.
Champions Milton Keynes Dons ended their campaign by drawing with Morecambe. Third-placed Hereford beat Grimsby 2-0.
Andy Bishop helped himself to a brace as Bury cruised to victory at The Fraser Eagle Stadium. Bishop scored his first from the penalty spot on 22 points before doubling the Shakers' advantage on the stroke of half-time.
Chester and Macclesfield have both struggled this season and there was little for the supporters to get excited about as they played out a goalless draw on the final afternoon.
Eighth-placed Chesterfield fell behind in the 20th minute when Spencer Weir-Daley struck for Notts County, but his effort was cancelled out by Jack Lester after 59 minutes.
Dagenham & Redbridge piled more misery on Mansfield in a dramatic clash. The game exploded into life in a three-minute period early in the second half, starting with Ben Strevens' opener on 50 minutes. Jake Buxton was then sent off for the visitors and Paul Benson converted a penalty to clinch the points.
Hereford celebrated their promotion in style as they condemned Grimsby to a seventh consecutive defeat. Ben Smith fired the Bulls in front after 36 minutes and Theo Robinson added a second six minutes later.
Wrexham brought their unsuccessful season to a close with a thrilling win against Lincoln at Sincil Bank. Brian Little's side took the lead through Levi Macken on 11 minutes and moved 2-0 ahead when Wes Baynes found the target after 33 minutes. A Steve Evans own goal pulled Lincoln back into it in the 39th minute but Baynes' second of the game on 88 minutes restored Wrexham's two-goal cushion. There was still time for more drama as Ben Wright scored for Lincoln in the 90th minute and Chris Llewellyn netted for Wrexham in stoppage time.
MK Dons extended their unbeaten run to 18 to finish a remarkable season on 97 points. Aaron Wilbraham broke the deadlock for the home side four minutes before half-time but Michael Twiss levelled things up on 78 minutes. Morecambe have ended their campaign unspectacularly but can be proud of a place in mid-table in their first year in the Football League.
Darlington ended a run of eight games without a win to boost confidence ahead of the play-offs. The Quakers made a stunning start as Jason Kennedy scored in only the third minute, and they made it 2-0 after 52 minutes courtesy of Michael Cummins.
Rochdale carried some momentum the play-offs as they made it 10 games unbeaten. Asa Hall netted for the Shrews after 34 minutes, only for Chris Dagnall to equalise nine minutes into the second half.
Rotherham finished their season with four wins in a row as they battled past Barnet at Millmoor. The crucial goal arrived in only the eighth minute as Jamie Green finished past goalkeeper Lee Harrison.
Gianluca Havern was Stockport's hero as his goal after 49 minutes separated the sides in a tight encounter at Edgeley Park. County will now face Wycombe in the play-off semi-finals.
Wycombe came out all guns blazing and quickly took a two-goal lead as Delroy Facey (6) and Leon Knight (25) scored. Bradford, fresh from releasing 13 players in midweek, reduced their arrears just before the break when Luke Medley stroked home a penalty, but they could not force an equaliser.
