Accrington Stanley chairman Eric Whalley is eager to speak with the Football Association after bookmakers reported 'an unusual amount of money' being placed on their clash with Bury at the weekend.

William Hill and Coral stopped taking bets on the match, which Accrington lost 2-0, due to an 'unusual betting pattern'.

The FA have announced plans to investigate the matter but Whalley has spoken to his management team and insists Accrington have done nothing wrong.

Whalley told the Lancashire Telegraph: "As far as I'm concerned, they have to get in touch with me if there is going to be any investigation - and unless they can bring names forward, we, as a club, can do nothing.

"I've spoken to the management side and they are adamant that they have nothing to hide."

Assistant manager Jimmy Bell added: "We would welcome any investigation and we actually feel there should be an investigation.

"They won't find anything untoward at Accrington, because we approached the game the same way we do every week - and that's to win - they will find no blame attached to the club whatsoever."
