Knill: Made changes
Bury manager Alan Knill has wielded the axe and released eight out-of-contract players.
The Shakers finished in the bottom half of the League Two table after struggling to find any consistency all season, and Knill has wasted no time in starting his preparations for next season.
Knill, who was only appointed manager in February, has decided to offer new deals to six members of the squad.
David Buchanan, Brian Barry-Murphy, Nicky Adams, Dale Stephens, Cameron Belford and Glynn Hurst are all out of contract but have been asked to commit their futures to the Gigg Lane club.
However, Jim Provett, Colin Woodthorpe, Dave Challinor, Andy Parrish, Ben Leonard, Jordan Stepien, Andy Mangan and Aaron Grundy have all been shown the door.
Players under contract and to be retained for next season are Paul Scott, Ben Futcher, Paul Morgan, Steve Haslam, Andy Bishop, Richie Baker, Domaine Rouse, Jack Dorney and Ricky Anane.
On-loan defender Efe Sodje had been hoping to sign a permanent deal with Bury but he must return to Gillingham.
Fellow loan players Adam Rooney and Simon Yeo have also gone back to their parent clubs.
