Coleman: Stan's name shame

Manager John Coleman is furious Accrington Stanley's name has been dragged through the mud following 'unusual betting pattern' allegations.

The Football Association are investigating Accrington's 2-0 defeat against Bury after claims that large amounts of money was bet on a Bury victory - leading to bookmakers William Hill and Coral suspending betting on the game.

Stanley chairman Eric Whalley is eager to speak to the FA, following the claim, with boss Coleman unhappy with the speculation surrounding the League Two club.

"I know I have done nothing wrong and I can sleep easy," he told the Accrington Observer.

"I just don't like the club's name being besmirched.

"It just seems that any opportunity there is to have a go at us, it happens. In the past, you hear of unnamed teams being investigated but it is our name which seems to be dragged through the mud.

"I just think that if ever there is a chance to have a pop at us, people do," he added.
