Paul Lambert says he wants to get straight back into management after leaving Wycombe.

The former Scotland international has stepped down after two years at the helm.

Lambert took his decision after Wycombe bowed out of the League Two play-offs at the semi-final stage last week.

"I want anther job, no doubt about it," Lambert told Sky Sports News.

"I am ready to go back in, and I have my reasons why I left, but I want to get back into it."

Lambert revealed that he had decided to leave Adams Park two months ago.

"I made my mind up two months ago, but I had to protect the lads as they are the most important thing," he said.

"They were terrific, a first-class group of lads but it just disappointing the way it has ended.

"They understand what has happened and I have made my views known.

"It is a great little club with terrific fans and there is no doubt about it.

"I just thought it was time to go, there was one or two little things that didn't sit with me - but I have had an absolutely brilliant time here.

"We have just fallen short and it is time for somebody else to have a go."
