Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond has become the first managerial casualty of the new season, according to Sky Sports News.

The manager has been sacked following the club's disappointing start to the season.

The Cherries began their League Two campaign with a 17-point deduction and have not been able to make significant inroads into their deficit.

Bournemouth drew their opening two games before losing at home to newly promoted Exeter.

They were then beaten 3-1 by Port Vale, a result which appears to have been the final straw.

Bond had coaching roles with Portsmouth, Southampton and Newcastle before he took charge at Bournemouth in June 2006.

He almost guided the Cherries to League One safety last season with a fantastic late run of five wins in six games, but a 10-point penalty proved decisive as they suffered relegation.
