Murray: Short-term deal
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has confirmed the club have offered trialist Fred Murray a short-term deal.
The 26-year-old has impressed Tisdale after linking up with the club following his release by Stevenage Borough in the summer.
Tisdale has hinted the former Cambridge and Northampton man could land a longer contract should he impress in League Two.
"I am not quick to give contracts but we have offered him something short-term because he is evidently good enough for this level," said Tisdale.
Although Tisdale is keen to strengthen his squad, he has confirmed he would rather give youth a chance rather than relying on loan signings.
"I'm not always quick to use loan players and we've only signed a couple of players on loan in the last few years," he told skysports.com.
"If given the decision of bringing in a loan player or playing a youngster from the reserves I would play one from the reserves if I think they are up for it because this club's about developing our own players.
"Obviously I will have a look into the loan market, but it's not something I do regularly."
Exeter currently lie in 11th spot following promotion last term and Tisdale is impressed with how his troops have coped with the step up.
He added: "I've been pleased with our start to the season and the players have settled in well to this division.
"It's very important to stay up, after all the work you put in to get promoted from the Conference it is vitally important not to get complacent and keep working hard.
"We have to make sure we maintain our status in the league first, but we are new to the teams in this league and we are still assessing the quality of the opposition and it's impossible to set some targets for this season until I've assessed the division as a whole."
