Hatch: On target
Darlington remain top of League Two after a 2-0 win over Lincoln City.
The Quakers remain ahead of Wycombe only on goal difference, though, as The Chairboys also had a home success over Bradford.
Dave Penney's men did it the hard way at the Darlington Arena after captain Steve Foster was dismissed early on.
But despite being down to 10 men, Darlington claimed all three points as Liam Hatch fired home just after the break and Richie Foran pounced in injury time.
Wycombe maintained their unbeaten record with a 1-0 victory over Bradford, who would have gone above Wanderers with a win themselves.
But it was Wycombe who claimed the victory thanks to Lewis Hunt's goal just 20 minutes from time.
Exeter, Rochdale and Bury all missed the chance to climb into the top three after failing to win.
The Grecians came up shot at Aldershot as they lost 1-0 with John Grant firing home the winner early in the second-half.
Dan Hylton was sent-off late on for the Shots, but they managed to hang on for all three points.
Rochdale had looked like grabbing the win which would have taken them into the automatic promotion spots as Adam Rundle put them ahead against Macclesfield on the hour.
But Nat Brown levelled matters with just minutes to seal a share of the spoils for the visitors.
Bury suffered a shock home loss as Grimsby Town claimed their first win of the season.
Liam Trotter and Nathan Jarman scored first-half goals to seal the win and they even finished with 10 men as Jean-Paul Kalala was dismissed.
Brentford are into fifth after they enjoyed a 3-0 success at Port Vale.
Vale had Ross Davidson dismissed early on and the Bees took advantage as Karleigh Osborne, Marcus Bean and Charlie MacDonald found the back of the net.
Gillingham leapt into the top six as they dispatched Rotherham 4-0 at Priestfield.
The Gills went ahead through Simon King just five minutes in and then the Millers were reduced to 10 men as Danny Harrison saw red.
Gillingham strolled to victory in the second half as they added three more goals through Adam Miller, Garry Richards and Luis Cumbers.
Dagenham & Redbridge could not move into the play-off berths as they lost 2-1 at bottom of the table Luton Town - who continue to chip away from their -30 points tally.
Sol Davis put Luton ahead, before Magnus Okuonghae levelled. The winner came just before half-time when Paul McVeigh fired home.
The Hatters are now on just -11 after they claimed the win at Kenilworth Road.
Bournemouth missed the chance to wipe out their deficit as they lost 3-0 at Accrington Stanley.
Stanley started brilliantly at The Crown Ground as they scored all their goals in the opening 20 minutes as Paul Mullen, Terry Gornell and Royston Griffiths all registered.
Mark Wright's first game back in charge ofChester ended in defeat at the Deva Stadium as Morecambe claimed a 2-1 victory.
Craig Stanley and Rene Howe set The Shrimpers on their way before Eddie Johnson gave Chester some hope with his goal - but the home side could not find an equaliser.
Both sides ended the match with 10 men as Danny Adams and Kevin Ellison were sent off in the same incident.
Finally, the performance of the day was witnessed at Underhill as Notts County debutant Jonathan Forte fired a first-half hat-trick in their 4-0 victory over Barnet.
Richard Butcher had opened the scoring for The Magpies before Forte took over and claimed the match-ball.
