Rochdale got their League Two promotion bid back on track with a 3-1 win over Accrington at Spotland.

They took the lead after 23 minutes when Will Buckley was fouled in the area by Phil Edwards and referee Colin Webster had no hesitation in awarding a spot-kick.

Adam Le Fondre stepped forward and hammered home his second penalty in as many games.

Rochdale's lead did not last long, however, with Stanley levelling within a minute courtesy of Peter Cavanagh's curling free-kick.

But Dale went back in front in the 55th minute when Adam Rundle's square ball was side-footed home by Buckley.

Kallum Higginbotham, on loan at Accrington earlier this season, scored the third in the 87th minute with a driving run and a cool finish.
