Carlton: In demand
We've spoke to Carlisle about him and Danny's thinking it over about what is best for him.
Coleman on Carlton
Quotes of the week
John Coleman has revealed Accrington Stanley are hoping to bring Carlisle United striker Danny Carlton in on loan.
Coleman told skysports.com that he is desperate to bring in some new faces to bolster his small squad, especially up front after losing two loanees to their parent clubs.
However, the Stanley boss fears he may miss out on the Carlisle hit-man as a number of other sides are also in the running for the former Morecambe striker.
"I'm desperate to bring players in to be honest," he said. "It's no good just signing anybody just because you can.
"I've made numerous enquiries and drawn a blank so far, but it is important that you don't just sign players for the sake of it and you consider your targets first before bringing in others not on your wanted list.
"We've spoke to Carlisle about him and Danny's thinking it over about what is best for him because other clubs are in for him as well, so we'll just have to wait and see on that one really.
"Since Jamie Clarke and Terry Gornell departed and also having lost Gregg Blundell to injury we've lost three strikers really, so a striker is definitely our top priority for us."
Coleman also indicated that Stanley have received offers for their players since the transfer window, but due to the lack of squad depth no one will be allowed to leave the club.
He added: "I've received a couple of enquiries for some of our players, but we are in the position at the moment that our squad is that thin that I can't let anyone go at the moment."
The League Two fixture schedule was again hit by the adverse weather conditions at the weekend, leaving Accrington without a game for two weeks.
Stanley tackle Bradford City this weekend and Coleman revealed the club have used the hiatus to take a break in the sun.
"It's been a game-free couple of weeks for us really, with only three games played this weekend and it is frustrating for all the managers concerned, especially for us because when you are not on the best of runs you want to get as many chances as you can to win a game.
"We've done something different this week and took them away to Spain for a friendly against FC Torrevieja, so it's a good chance for us to get some better training done and a warmer climate as well. We've done some training today at the complex and we've got the game on Wednesday, so we'll keep ourselves ticking over that way."
