Schmeichel: One for the future
Notts County have significantly bolstered their goalkeeping options by taking Kasper Schmeichel from Man City.
The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Magpies in a deal which is believed to have smashed the club's transfer record.
Reports suggest the deal has involved a seven-figure sum, eclipsing the £640,000 County shelled out for Tony Agana in 1991.
Danish shot-stopper Schmeichel, son of Manchester United legend Peter, is now set to link up with Sven Goran Eriksson for the second time.
The Swede, who has recently been appointed as County's new director of football, handed the youngster his Premier League debut during his time in charge at Eastlands.
County boss Ian McParland is understandably delighted to have completed such a coup for the club and expects Schmeichel to play an integral role in an exciting future at Meadow Lane.
"It is a great signing for the club, obviously. He is one for now and one for the future," McParland said in the Nottingham Evening Post.
"Hopefully he will be here for a long time and become a firm fans' favourite and also help us up the league."
