Powell: Linked with Mariners
England women's coach Hope Powell is being linked with the vacant Grimsby Town post.
The Mariners sacked Mike Newell on Monday and if they did move for Powell, the 42-year-old would become the first-ever female manager of a Football League club.
While speculation in the past has suggested she could be interested in taking over a club, the Football Association, Powell's employers, have denied knowledge of the story.
But League Managers' Association chief executive Richard Bevan told Sky Sports News: "Why shouldn't she (make the step into the men's game)?
"Hope has done a fantastic job with England, but I'm not sure the FA would want to let her go."
Powell is well-regarded after guiding the England women's team to the final of the European Championship this summer.
