Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker hopes the situation surrounding Martin Allen will be sorted out this week.

Robins manager Allen has been placed on gardening leave while the club investigate an alleged nightclub incident, leaving assistant boss John Schofield in charge of first-team affairs.

"We are in the hands of lawyers. Ideally it would be great to try and get something resolved this week," Baker told Radio Gloucestershire.

"We've got to try and do something this week to bring things to a head quicker than might have been the case.

"We've got to be careful we don't knee-jerk and do the wrong thing, so we've got to make sure we do the right thing for the long-term future."

Cheltenham lost 4-0 at home to Crewe on Saturday to leave them languishing fourth from bottom in the League Two table.
