Aldershot Town caretaker assistant manager Paul Williams hopes to land the role on a permanent basis.

The former Southampton and Coventry City defender joined forces with ex-Saints team-mate Jason Dodd to take over from the departing Gary Waddock on a temporary basis.

Williams, 38, is relishing every minute, despite the huge workload that comes with the job.

He told skysports.com: "Me and Jason can only do our best while we are at the club and whether we get the position full-time is down to somebody else.

"So all we can do is continue to give 100 per cent to the job that we have been given.

"I'm really enjoying it and it has been great to get the buzz back from my playing days. I'm enjoying every second of it at the moment, but at the same time it is hard work.

"When you are playing it is much easier because you can do the training and the games and then get yourself home afterwards.

"In management it is more like a 6am-9pm job, with the games we go to watch at night, but I wouldn't swap it for the world right now."
