Crewe Alexandra striker Anthony Elding has joined Kettering Town on loan, while the League Two club have confirmed Steve Collis is still available for loan.

Elding was told he could leave Gresty Road last month after manager Dario Gradi stated the 27-year-old had dropped down to sixth choice in his plans.

Burton Albion expressed an interest in signing Elding, who also revealed that he would be open to joining Crewe's local rivals Port Vale.

However, Elding has now opted to drop down to Conference level after agreeing to link up with Kettering, where he spent a brief spell in 2006, until January.

Meanwhile, Crewe boss Gradi has reiterated that he is prepared to let goalkeeper Collis leave the club, despite Bertrand Bossu cutting short his stay with the Railwaymen.

Gradi signed Steve Phillips on loan from Bristol Rovers on Monday and, with Adam Legzdins also at his disposal, is willing to let Collis move on.

"We have three goalkeepers here at the moment and all well and good, Steve Phillips will play at the weekend," Gradi told the club's official website.

"Adam showed what we could do for us on Saturday and if he can perform like he did and put up a real challenge for the No.1 spot then all the better.

"Steve (Collis) has trained well, but he is still available for loan. He knows that and I'm sure his agent is working on it to find him a new club."
