Bury have confirmed that defender Ryan Cresswell will be out of action for six weeks with an ankle knock.

The 21-year-old sustained ankle ligament damage during Tuesday's 2-1 win over Chesterfield at Gigg Lane, and had to leave the field after just 17 minutes.

A scan has revealed that Cresswell has not fractured his ankle, although he will miss a number of games.

A statement on Bury's official website said: "Following an X-ray to Ryan's right ankle on Wednesday morning, we can confirm that there is no fracture and he has sustained ankle ligament damage.

"We expect Ryan to be out of action for around four to six weeks."

Creswell has played in 11 League Two games so far this season for the Shakers, and he has been part of a Bury team that have not lost in the league since the beginning of September.
