Bradford City are on the lookout for a new manager after Stuart McCall quit the League Two side.

McCall waved farewell to the fans on Saturday following a 1-0 defeat to Bury thanks to Andy Morrell's winner.

The league defeat has left the West Yorkshire side 16th in the table and 10 points adrift of the play-off positions.

McCall has now finalised his exit after settling the remaining 18 months left on his contract with joint-chairman Julian Rhodes.

The fans' favourite nearly quit the club last summer after missing out on the play-offs, only for supporters to convince him to stay on.

Departed

"Stuart McCall has today left his post as manager of Bradford City," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The decision was felt to be in the best interests of all parties following a run of disappointing results that have left the club in 16th place in the League Two table.

"The club would like to place on record its appreciation for Stuart's efforts as manager over the past two years and seven months.

"During this time he has worked tirelessly and no one is more disappointed that his endeavours have not been rewarded with more success on the field than Stuart himself."

A number of names have already been linked with the vacant managerial position, including Dean Windass and Peter Jackson.

Assistant Wayne Jacobs is to take temporary charge of the club and should be at the helm for the visit of Grimsby this weekend.
